Apple Star Trek (1976)
A very short program that draws on PEEK and POKE into screen memory. Retyped in March 2005 by Pete Turnbull, whose header warns of typos. Run here on a 40 x 24 character screen with an Apple Integer BASIC profile (the Apple-1 BASIC is approximated by it; the Apple-1 display had no cursor addressing and this game uses none). Turnbull's 2005 retype has typos (his header warns of it), so the run repairs lines by inference, the archived text being untouched: line 70 appears twice, the second read as line 80; line 230 T+T+1 as T=T-1 (time counts down to 0); line 440 the misplaced quotes; line 1050 the semicolon as a colon; line 1070 the last test P=2 as P=3; line 2010 FOR Y=0 TO 7 STEP -1 as FOR Y=7 TO 0 STEP -1. Line 1080 is left as typed. Treat this as an approximation of the 1976 program.
Lineage
Unknown; it packs each quadrant as Klingons×100 + bases×10 + stars, as the Mayfield family does. (our reading)
- 88 lines for the Apple-1, keeping its map in memory with PEEK and POKE.
- Held only as Turnbull's 2005 retype, which has typos.
